MONTY BROOKS

Award winning FILMMAKER
& PHOTOGRAPHER

Nōtan (濃淡) is a Japanese design concept involving the play and placement of light and dark elements as they are placed next to the other.

I am a filmmaker and photographer. I have recently studied Film with the British Film Institute Academy (BFI, Photography at the Totnes Foundation Course and Arts University Plymouth. My film ‘Digging through Time’ won Best Documentary at The Greenwich 2023 Film Festival.

My work has an expansive, filmic quality. I explore the potential of light and negative space to lock in shape, to suggest intimacy, holding both tension and balance.
